The Purpose of Compliance History Retention

Retaliation claims are rarely filed immediately. In many jurisdictions, employees have 180 to 300 days to file complaints with the EEOC, and FMLA interference lawsuits can be brought up to two years later. Retaining records of pre-send compliance checks is vital for establishing that managers acted in good faith.

Retention Thresholds by Plan

Your history retention window defines how long records remain searchable in your Dashboard history:

  • Free Plan: 0 days (Saved history is locked and cannot be retrieved).
  • Starter Plan: 30 days retention window.
  • Pro Plan: 365 days (1 year) retention window.
  • HR (Consultant) Plan: 730 days (2 years) retention window.
  • SMB Plan: 1,095 days (3 years) retention window.

Data Expiration and Deletion

When a record's age (calculated from createdAt) exceeds your plan's retention threshold, it is automatically archived from normal history queries at the database layer. Users will see an "Expired" notice. To recover historical compliance data, you will need to upgrade to a tier with a wider retention window.

🛡️ Legal Protection Alert

For HR consultants and enterprise clients, we recommend a minimum of 2 years (HR Plan) or 3 years (SMB Plan) retention to cover the full statute of limitations for federal retaliation claims.
